Ukraine’s membership in NATO will not be removed from peace talks agenda - Sybiha

The issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO will remain a key one when discussing future peace agreements.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"NATO cannot be removed from the agenda, that is the first position. Yes, indeed, today there is no consensus among our partners regarding Ukraine’s NATO membership, but I repeat, it is enshrined in Ukraine’s Constitution, it is the strategic choice of the Ukrainian people, and the most effective security guarantee for Ukraine is NATO membership," Sybiha said.
He also noted that Ukraine is considering other security guarantees:
- protection of air and sea space,
- building up our own military capabilities,
- strengthening air defence,
- development of drone and artillery capabilities,
- support for the defence industry.
"We must become increasingly self-sufficient in the defense sector. We must strengthen our position to the point that the enemy clearly understands the consequences and costs of potential future provocations," the minister said.
Sybiha added that Ukraine's priorities are to provide air defence systems, develop drone technology and strengthen artillery capabilities, including the supply of ammunition.
