The European Council will support the creation of a Special Tribunal to punish those responsible for crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine, but Hungary does not agree with some of the conclusions.

This is stated in the draft text of the summit's conclusions, Censor.NET reports with reference to the EP.

The conclusions of the European Council, which will take place on March 20-21 in Brussels, will emphasize the importance of bringing to justice those responsible for crimes committed by Russia during the war against Ukraine.

"The European Council reaffirms the European Union's strong commitment to ensuring full accountability for war crimes and other most serious crimes committed in connection with Russia's aggression against Ukraine. In this context, the progress made in the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine within the Council of Europe is an important step," the document says.

EU leaders consider the establishment of the tribunal an important step in the process of ensuring accountability for war crimes. However, some of the conclusions regarding Ukraine will not be supported by Hungary. It is expected that 26 out of 27 EU states will agree with these conclusions.
