Trump’s son, Witkoff, Kushner, and Carlson held election talks with Zelenskyy’s opponents – Politico

Donald Trump Jr., the son of the U.S. president, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, TV host Tucker Carlson, and U.S. Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff held behind-the-scenes talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s political rivals regarding the organization of presidential elections in Ukraine.
This was reported by Politico, as cited by Censor.NET.
"Trump's team has already made its disdain for Zelenskyy clear. This was publicly displayed during the ugly clash in the Oval Office in February. It also became evident behind the scenes, during secret talks between members of Trump's inner circle and Zelenskyy's domestic political rivals, which Politico exposed earlier this month," the report states.
It is noted that these talks were part of an initiative by Trump's administration aimed at promoting the idea of early elections in Ukraine, despite opinion polls indicating that Zelenskyy currently enjoys a high level of support among Ukrainians.
Among them was Tucker Carlson, a pro-Russian journalist who interviewed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Witkoff is the only one with an official role, the publication adds.
Politico reached out to all four for comment on the talks, but did not receive a response.
They see Zelenskyy as an impediment. How can you undercut Zelenskyy and force him to be more compliant? Well, you engage his political adversaries and show him that the US has other Ukrainian partners and alternative options. But I think that most of Trump's world, or at least part of it, is delusional in thinking that they can anoint someone in Ukraine to be their partner and to electorally succeed in the short-to-medium term whenever elections take place. It’s very much a lack of understanding of Ukraine," said the expert interviewed by journalists.
As a reminder, on March 6, Politico reported, citing unnamed sources, that four of Donald Trump's associates held secret talks with representatives of the Ukrainian opposition. They discussed the presidential election.
The day before, Donald Trump said that elections should be held in Ukraine, as Zelenskyy's approval rating had dropped to 4%.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the issue of holding elections in Ukraine is a format of pressure.
