Macron is preparing for conflict with Trump over his desire to help Ukraine - Bloomberg

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that if you find the right argument, you can influence Donald Trump's decision.
This is stated in the Bloomberg article "Macron is preparing for a conflict with Trump over his desire to help Ukraine," Censor.NET informs.
While Donald Trump's geopolitical statements are causing concern among his allies, the situation has given Macron the opportunity to take the lead in world politics.
After losing his parliamentary majority in the early elections last year, Macron focused on domestic challenges, but active international diplomacy is now allowing him to regain influence.
On the eve of the EU summit in Brussels, the French leader is making efforts to consolidate European countries in support of Ukraine.
However, this initiative of Macron's inevitably exacerbates the confrontation with Trump, the publication writes.
The US leader sees the cessation of hostilities as a means of establishing economic and political relations with Russia. Putin, during a telephone conversation with Trump on Tuesday, demanded a complete cessation of arms supplies to Ukraine, which would force Macron to effectively abandon his efforts to stimulate support for Kyiv, the article says.
A senior EU official noted that European countries are not ready to agree to such conditions. And French government spokeswoman Sophie Primas said that this demand was unrealistic, and Macron himself is actively negotiating with Trump and Zelenskyy, looking for ways to proceed.
Amid growing discussions about a ceasefire, Macron brought together defense ministers and military leaders from more than 30 countries. With British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he is coordinating the efforts of states that are considering military assistance to Ukraine after a potential ceasefire.
"Global challenges have given Macron back his influence," said political scientist Melody Mock-Gruet of Sciences Po University in Paris.
Macron has been maintaining diplomatic contacts with Trump since his first term in office, trying to use them to influence the US leader's position. During the recent EU summit, Macron discussed security issues with Trump for more than half an hour.
Sources say that Macron believes that Trump values personal connections, so if you find the right argument, you can influence his decision.
