Russia’s conditions for ceasefire in Black Sea include lifting of EU sanctions, - Rubio

Rubio names one of Russia’s demands for ceasefire in Black Sea

Russia's conditions for a ceasefire in the Black Sea include the lifting of EU sanctions.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a press conference in Jamaica, Censor.NET reports.

According to the Secretary of State, following the talks in Saudi Arabia, the White House received a "more detailed definition of what a ceasefire on energy means", as well as the conditions that must be met for Russia to agree to a ceasefire in the Black Sea.

"Some of these conditions include sanctions that are not ours. They are imposed by the European Union. So when our people come back (from Saudi Arabia - ed.), we will sit down, discuss the proposals, get their impressions of the conversations to better understand what Russia's position is and what they want to get in return," the head of US diplomacy said.

Then, according to Rubio, Russia's position will be presented to President Donald Trump, who will decide on the next steps for the United States.

"And then a decision will be made on the next step... Of course, it's hard work... there are many things to work through," the US top diplomat said.

Rubio also added that he believes it is positive that "Ukrainians and Russians are talking about a ceasefire, whether it's in the energy sector or maybe in the Black Sea".

As a reminder, following talks with the US in Saudi Arabia, Russia put forward a number of demands for the lifting of sanctions to declare a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
