Ukraine’s membership in NATO remains on table – Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO remains on the negotiating table, despite the disagreement of some countries.

"You know who does not yet support Ukraine's membership in NATO, but in any case, no one has removed this issue from the table (of negotiations), from the future. At least we are saying that even if someone does not want to support it (Ukraine's membership in the Alliance - ed.) even now, we will see what happens in the future," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that it is important to have commensurate security guarantees for the period until Ukraine joins security alliances.
"It is important that we have appropriate guarantees, similar to NATO, while we are not in the alliance. We are talking about contingents, about the efforts of our partners, on whom we can really rely," the President said.
According to him, today there are several countries with which they are discussing the deployment of naval and aviation forces within the contingent. The most difficult point in these negotiations is the land component. "We will still, I am sure of it, have some kind of infrastructure to support Western armies at the end of the war, or maybe even in the middle, at the time of the ceasefire," Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that "we will still come to a just peace." "We have many different documents and developments, but it is important that we are strong at the negotiating table," Zelenskyy concluded.
