Meloni to visit Trump next week to "press" lower tariffs - media

Meloni wants to see the US in the Coalition of the Willing

Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni intends to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump next week to discuss mutual duties between the United States and the European Union.

This is reported by the local edition of Roma, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

According to the publication, the meeting will take place on April 16.

It is noted that the European proposal may be to return to zero tariffs, which is probably unacceptable to Washington today. The EU's specific goal is to "tear out half," that is, to set mutual duties at 10%.

Trump imposed tariffs

As a reminder, Trump has signed a decree imposing a minimum 10 percent tariff on almost all goods entering the United States. For some countries, the tariffs are higher. In particular, China - 34%, the European Union - 20%.

Later it became known that Trump had declared a state of emergency in the country's economy.

Donald Trump's list of imposed duties also included the uninhabited Gerd and MacDonald Islands.
