US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said that the United States is aware that Ukraine has captured two Chinese nationals who fought on the side of Russia.
She said this at a press conference on April 8, Censor.NET reports citing the EP.
The State Department spokeswoman noted that the United States had seen reports of the capture of two Chinese nationals who fought on the side of Russia in Ukraine and called them "disturbing."
"China is Russia's main sponsor in the war in Ukraine. China supplies almost 80% of the dual-use goods that Russia needs to wage war. 80% comes from China," Bruce said.
She also recalled the words of US President Donald Trump that further cooperation between "these two nuclear powers", i.e. Russia and China, "will only deepen global instability and make the United States and other countries less safe, less secure, and less prosperous".
Chinese nationals captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian defenders captured two Chinese nationals in Donetsk region. They fought as part of the Russian army.
According to the president, the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in a battle with six Chinese in Donetsk region near the settlements of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka, after which two were taken prisoner.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China because of the participation of Chinese citizens in Russia's war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.
