China does not confirm information about 155 Chinese nationals fighting on side of Russia – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian

Chinese diplomats have no information about the presence of more than 155 Chinese nationals who, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are fighting on the side of the Russian army against Ukraine.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lin Jian, Censor.NET reports citing Suspilne.

Commenting on journalists' questions, he said that he had "nothing to share" on the issue. Lin also stressed that China's position on the war in Ukraine is "objective and fair". He added that China is committed to promoting a ceasefire and peace talks, which is clear to the international community.

As a reminder, on 9 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists that Ukrainian special services had information about 155 Chinese nationals fighting on the side of the Russian Federation.

Chinese nationals captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian defenders captured two Chinese nationals in the Donetsk region. They fought as part of the Russian army.

According to the president, the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in a battle with six Chinese in the Donetsk region near the settlements of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka, after which two were taken prisoner.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China because of the participation of Chinese citizens in Russia's war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the US is aware that Ukraine has captured two Chinese citizens who fought on the side of Russia.
