Evacuation in Sumy region in settlements in 17-kilometre zone from border - RMA

In Sumy region, a decision was made to increase the number of settlements to be evacuated. These are settlements up to 17 kilometres from the border.
According to Censor.NET, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, said this during a marathon on the third anniversary of the liberation of Sumy region from Russian occupiers.
"At the last meeting of the Defence Council, we decided to increase the number of settlements to be evacuated. These are settlements up to 17 kilometres from the border, where, according to the military, the enemy may conduct intense shelling," said Artiukh.
He also noted that evacuation measures were taken in the region in advance.
"199 settlements are currently included in the evacuation plan. The population of the settlements within the 5-km zone has been almost completely evacuated. 49 settlements have been placed under the command and control of the Armed Forces," added the head of the RMA.
Thus, according to him, over the past three months of 2025, the largest evacuation events included in the evacuation plan were those in the Krasnopilska, Myropilska, Yunakivska, and Khotynska communities.
"About 15,000 people were evacuated there. And today this work is ongoing. There are still 3-4% of residents in these communities who do not want to evacuate yet. However, almost 100% of children from these communities have been evacuated as of today," added Artiukh.
