Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and US Vice President J.D. Vance discussed achieving a just peace in Ukraine on April 18 in Rome.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by ANSA.

"The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss trade issues and key topics of current international politics, starting with efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," the Italian government said in a statement.

It is noted that the talks between Meloni and Vance were followed by a working lunch, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

"The meeting allowed us to emphasize the excellent relations that bind Italy and the United States, including at the cultural level, and at the same time the shared determination to strengthen cooperation in the sectors of security, economic growth and technological development, as outlined in the joint declaration adopted during the recent meeting in Washington between Prime Minister Meloni and US President Donald Trump," the statement said.
