Foreign Ministry on Putin’s "Easter Truce": We will look at actions, not words

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has responded to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's announcement of the so-called Easter truce.

This is stated in a statement by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

Sybiha recalled Ukraine's agreement to a 30-day ceasefire at the suggestion of the United States, which Russia refused.

"Ukraine's position remains clear and consistent: back in Jeddah on March 11, we unconditionally agreed to the US proposal for a full temporary ceasefire for 30 days. Russia refused, and this Russian refusal to the United States has been going on for 39 days," the Foreign Minister said.

According to Sybiha, during this time, the Moscow regime has put forward various conditions and intensified terror against Ukraine, civilians and civilian infrastructure across the country.

"Now Putin has made statements about his alleged readiness for a ceasefire. 30 hours instead of 30 days. Unfortunately, we have considerable experience when his statements did not coincide with his actions. We know that his words cannot be trusted, and we will look at actions, not words," emphasized Sybiha.

The minister added that Russia could at any time agree to a proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days, which has been on the table since March.

"We want to see the Russian forces truly cease fire in all areas. We also call on all our partners and the entire international community to remain vigilant. Only actions demonstrate the truth, not words: it is only because of Russia that this war began and continues," the minister added.

As a reminder, today, April 19, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly announced an Easter truce that will be in effect from 6 p.m. Moscow time on April 19 until zero o'clock on April 21.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's announcement of the so-called Easter truce by saying that it was another of Putin's attempts to play with people's lives.
