On the evening of 8 July, an air alert was declared throughout Ukraine due to the take-off of a Russian MiG-31K, which could be a carrier of the "Kinzhal" hypersonic missile.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Air Force of the AFU.

"The whole of Ukraine is a missile threat! MiG-31K takeoff from Savasleyka airfield (Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation) was recorded," the post reads.

"High-speed target in Zhytomyr region, heading southwest! Zhytomyr, Starokostiantyniv - stay in shelters!" the air force said.

Monitoring channels reported the take-off of several MiG-31Ks.

At 23:31, the alarm was lifted.
