Ukraine and Greece have agreed to jointly produce unmanned surface vessels that will later be used by the armed forces of both countries.

Censor.NET reports this, citing Kathimerini.

According to the outlet, the agreement was one of the key outcomes of the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Agreement details

The production line will be opened at Greek shipyards. Some of the drones will be delivered to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, while the rest will go to the Greek Navy.

The cooperation allows Athens to rely on a proven technology and speed up the integration of its own innovations into maritime drones — a sector that is increasingly competitive on the global market.

The agreement also helps Greece narrow its technological gap with Turkey, which has been actively developing its fleet of unmanned aerial and maritime systems since 2021.

Regarding project financing, Athens and Kyiv plan to include it in the credit instruments provided under the SAFE regulation.
