Russia’s military losses have risen sharply in recent weeks due to Ukrainian drones, - Bloomberg

Losses of the Russian Federation army in the first six months of 2025

The number of Russian soldiers killed in the war against Ukraine has risen sharply in recent weeks, which is attributed to the effective operations of Ukrainian drones.

This was reported by Bloomberg, according to Censor.NET.

According to European sources, if we compare the number of dead and wounded in recent times, there are significantly more dead among Russian military personnel. If this trend continues, it will be difficult for the Kremlin to replenish its losses without announcing additional mobilisation.

Sources also note that high losses could weaken the position of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin during negotiations in the coming months.

Increase in Russian casualties in combat

Michael Kofman, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said Russia’s killed-in-action statistic "increased considerably" last year.

"The ratio of KIA to seriously injured was much closer to 1:1," he wrote in a post on social-media platform X.
