The scandal surrounding the detention of footballer Danylo Kolesnyk has taken an unexpected turn. After a fragmentary video was circulated showing the player striking a man in uniform, the athlete published the full surveillance footage. As reported by Censor.NET, the new video indicates that dangerous actions by representatives of the Territorial Centre of Recruitment and Social Support (TCR and SS) preceded the physical confrontation.

Arguments of the defense lawyers and new facts:
- Vehicle collision: Surveillance footage appears to show that a service vehicle of the TCR and SS deliberately struck a civilian. Kolesnyk directly states: "Employees of the territorial recruitment center intentionally hit a person with their service vehicle."
- Threats of shooting: According to the footballer, after the collision, the servicemen began threatening the man with a weapon "without obvious grounds."
- Start of the fight: The athlete insists that it was an employee of the TCR who first attacked Kolesnyk and began inflicting bodily injuries on him, and that the footballer’s punch was a response.
- Kolesnyk’s position: The athlete emphasizes that he was not hiding and was not detained — he voluntarily appeared at the district police department to give testimony and clarify the circumstances.
"In the situation that occurred, I stood up for a person who, in my belief, was subjected to unlawful actions. The video attached to the post shows representatives of the TCR deliberately hitting a civilian with a car. Moreover, they rudely threatened to use firearms and were the first to inflict bodily injuries," Kolesnyk states.
Context and consequences:
Despite the new evidence, FC Kolos has already announced the player’s suspension and its intention to dismiss him on February 17. At the same time, the Kyiv Regional territorial TCR ironically offered Kolesnyk service in the Air Assault Forces, accusing him of a sense of "impunity."
The publication of the full surveillance footage may serve as grounds for reviewing the actions of territorial recruitment center officials regarding possible abuse of authority and endangerment of people’s lives.
