Russian night-time attack: 11 regions hit, 4 people killed, – Zelenskyy. PHOTOS
During Russia’s large-scale attack, damage was reported in 11 regions; four people were killed, dozens were injured, and homes and vehicles were damaged.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Recovery work is ongoing following a massive Russian attack overnight in our regions. In Zaporizhzhia and Poltava, ordinary high-rise buildings were damaged and there were fires. Nearly 40 drones were launched at Shostka in the Sumy region. In Slatyne, Kharkiv region, a drone struck an electric train. In total, damage has been recorded in 11 regions. As of now, it is known that four people, unfortunately, were killed during the attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Dozens more have been injured, including children," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy noted that Russia had attacked Ukraine with over 390 strike drones and 34 missiles of various types – ballistic, cruise and KABs.
"These figures clearly indicate that we need greater protection against Russian strikes. It is important to continue supporting Ukraine. It is important that all agreements regarding air defence are implemented on time. And it is important that Europe is able to produce the necessary number of missiles for air defence to protect against any threats.
Thank you to everyone who is helping to strengthen the defence of Ukraine’s skies," the President of Ukraine emphasised.
Dealing with the aftermath of the massive strike
What led up to this?
On the night of 23–24 March, Russian invaders carried out a combined massive strike. The enemy struck Ukrainian territory with drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.
Russian drones attacked Odesa on the evening of 23 March, resulting in power cuts in certain areas of the city. The region’s energy infrastructure suffered disruptions following the strikes.
The Poltava region came under a massive enemy strike. The strikes caused fires; all emergency services are working at the scenes; two people were killed and a further 11 were injured.
The Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia with missiles and strike drones. Explosions were heard in the city, fires broke out and significant damage was recorded. One person was killed and nine were injured.
The Vinnytsia region also came under enemy attack. Nine residential buildings were damaged as a result of the shelling.
