Yatseniuk names four strategic goals of government
Cabinet's strategic goals are Ukraine's membership in the European Union and NATO, restoration of territorial integrity, and economic growth.
As reported by Censor.NET referring to Cabinet press service, it was announced by Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk.
He stressed that the Cabinet's strategic program included a geopolitical goal - Ukraine's membership in the European Union. "Our entire program of reforms and changes in Ukraine is intended for reaching this," the prime minister said.
"From a security perspective, there is no doubt that Ukraine should join NATO. This is the main objective of the reform of country's defense and security sectors. Hundreds of billions of resources are spent on this from Ukraine's state budget. This is what our co-operation with NATO is meant for. The Alliance has provided five trust funds for Ukraine to actually approach NATO membership," he stressed.
The third goal, according to Yatseniuk, is national. "This is the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Ukrainian state. This means taking the Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea back under the full control of the Ukrainian authorities," he explained.
The fourth goal is economic. "It concerns the growth of income of citizens, creation of jobs in the country, improvement of the welfare of the Ukrainian people," the prime minister said.
