Contract workers need guarantees, but they don’t have any because government can change laws at moment’s notice, - Friz

The state has no right to create a situation in which serving military personnel find themselves in worse conditions than new contract soldiers.
This view was expressed by Iryna Friz, a Member of Parliament for "European Solidarity" and a member of Committee on National Security and Defence, Iryna Friz, according to an article by Censor.NET entitled "New contracts, higher salaries and foreigners in the Armed Forces of Ukraine: the pros and cons of military reform".
What do we know?
"A fixed-term contract is the right tool. People need to know how long they are signing up for, what guarantees they have, when they will be entitled to leave, and what will happen once the contract ends. But until the laws are amended, there are no guarantees. A government resolution or a ministerial order can be changed just as quickly as they are adopted," she noted.
Friz also highlighted the unfairness between those already serving and those who are only just signing new contracts as a separate issue.
"The state has no right to create a situation where serving military personnel find themselves in worse conditions than new contract soldiers. Contracts can work. But only if they are not just a publicity campaign, but a legally protected system," the MP stressed.

Launch of a comprehensive reform of the army
As a reminder, on 12 June, the Ministry of Defence officially announced the launch of the most comprehensive reform of the military service system. Unique contract formats with clear terms (from 10 months) are being introduced, along with payments for infantry personnel (up to 460,000 UAH per month), a fast-track return for servicemen from AWOL, and the mass recruitment of foreign volunteers for the front line.
