Zelenskyy will visit Gdańsk despite the scandal involving the "UPA heroes"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to visit Gdańsk, where a conference on Ukraine’s recovery will take place on June 25–26.

This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

Poland received a note from Ukraine

According to a source in the Polish government, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a note from the Ukrainian side regarding Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s participation in the conference.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president’s visit had been called into question due to a dispute between Kyiv and Warsaw over the naming of one of Ukraine’s military units in honor of UPA heroes.

Up to 5,000 participants are expected

A few days ago, Mykyta Poturaev, a member of parliament from the "Servant of the People" faction, stated that the President of Ukraine "should be" among the participants at the event in Gdańsk.

A source in the Polish government has now confirmed Zelenskyy’s planned participation.

Paweł Kowal, the Polish government’s representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine, emphasized that the conference is a joint event between Poland and Ukraine, so both sides have a stake in its holding.

The conference will be held in Poland for the first time

The conference on Ukraine’s recovery will take place on June 25–26 in Gdańsk.

Up to 5,000 guests are expected to attend, including heads of state, government officials, and representatives of international organizations and the business community.

This will be the first time Poland has hosted this event. Previous conferences were held in Lugano, London, Berlin, and Rome.
