Comprehensive airspace monitoring, high maximum speed, a high flight ceiling, agile maneuverability, and precise guidance and target engagement. The arsenal of Ukraine’s Defense Forces has been expanded with Alexa Spatium, the first Ukrainian jet-powered drone interceptor.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, as relayed by Censor.NET.
This is a high-speed jet-powered unmanned aircraft developed by Ukrainian engineers specifically to destroy small aerial, ground, and surface targets in real combat conditions.
The interceptor is designed primarily to take down Russian kamikaze UAVs:
- "Geran-3";
- "Geran-4";
- "Geran-5";
- Shahed-131.
The system can also be used to engage reconnaissance drones, helicopters, and other individual targets.
Features of the Ukrainian Alexa Spatium UAV
During testing, the interceptor confirmed the tactical and technical characteristics claimed by the manufacturer. The unmanned aircraft has a number of features:
- a powerful turbojet engine;
- high service ceiling;
- significant combat radius;
- wide flight envelope—from low to medium altitudes;
- flexible combat tactics—based on pre-programmed coordinates or in direct-attack mode;
- variety of warheads—fragmentation-high-explosive, cumulative, and thermobaric;
- high maneuverability in flight;
- fully remote preparation and launch;
- high maximum and low minimum speeds to conserve fuel;
- availability of effective search and targeting systems: television and infrared.
In addition, Alexa Spatium features reliable control and video transmission systems.
Technical specifications and combat capabilities of the Alexa Spatium
The drone measures approximately 1.5 by 1.7 meters and can be launched from a mobile catapult in a matter of minutes.
It is made of a lightweight and durable composite material, allowing it to perform sharp maneuvers without losing control.
The payload’s weight ensures effective engagement of a wide range of aerial targets.
An unmanned aerial vehicle that fails to complete its mission can return to the launch site and be reused.
Key advantages of Alexa Spatium in intercepting Russian drones
During the development of the interceptor, the engineers achieved their objectives:
- operational speed – the reactive platform ensures rapid response, system deployment, and mission execution;
- resilience to challenging operating conditions;
- engineering readiness – minimal requirements for site preparation,
- process automation;
- high mobility – the system fits into a pickup truck;
- modular design.
As a reminder, since the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Defense has certified and authorized the use of 413 UAVs by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Almost all of them are manufactured in Ukraine.
