Belarus begins openly recruiting citizens into Russian army for war against Ukraine – FISU

Belarus has seen the launch of its first recruitment website in the country’s national domain zone openly offering citizens contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry to take part in the war against Ukraine. Belarusians are being promised tens of thousands of dollars in payments.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FISU).
Recruiters promise $28,000 upfront
According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, the project is operated by the Russian recruitment agency Bratsky Sindikat. Potential contract soldiers are being offered a one-off payment of $28,000 and monthly pay exceeding $3,100.
Additional payments are also offered for participating in offensive operations, making advances and destroying Ukrainian military equipment.
The intelligence service noted that the website operates within Belarus’ national domain zone. Registration in this domain is controlled by the Operational and Analytical Center under the President of Belarus, a security service responsible, among other things, for protecting state secrets.
At the same time, Belarusian law provides for up to 10 years in prison for mercenary activity and participation in armed conflicts abroad.
Nearly 2,900 Belarusians have served in the Russian army
According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, nearly 2,900 citizens of Belarus had served in the Russian army as of 2026. At least 440 of them have been killed.
Ukrainian intelligence says Belarusian law enforcement agencies effectively do not prosecute citizens fighting as part of Russian forces.
Belarusian schoolchildren to be taught to operate drones
At the same time, Belarus is intensifying military training for schoolchildren. The country’s Education Ministry has revised the pre-conscription training curriculum for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Tenth-grade students will be taught practical skills related to modern warfare. Boys will take a mandatory drone operation course, while girls will receive tactical medicine training.
In addition, schoolchildren will attend 10-day field training camps at military units operated by Belarus’ Interior Ministry, State Border Committee and Defense Ministry. The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine regards these changes as a further militarization of Belarusian society.
