Head of Platsdarm search group Oleksii Yukov awarded title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously)

Oleksii Yukov, head of the Platsdarm search group, was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. He was killed on 5 August 2026 while carrying out a combat mission to search for and recover the bodies of fallen Ukrainian service members.
His wife, Yevheniia Kaluhina, reported this on Facebook, according to Censor.NET.

- Oleksii Yukov, head of the Platsdarm search group, was killed on 5 August 2026 near the village of Shandryholove in the Lyman community of the Donetsk region. The vehicle he was travelling in while searching for the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers struck a mine.
- Oleksii Yukov spent more than 27 years bringing the bodies of fallen soldiers home.
- The volunteer Platsdarm search group, headed by Yukov, was the first in Ukraine to begin searching for the dead during the war in Donbas as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
