Russian night-time attack: all cruise missiles launched during night were shot down by air defence forces, - Air Force
Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with cruise and ballistic missiles and drones. All the cruise missiles were shot down, including the ‘Kalibrs’.
According to Censor.NET, this was announced by Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department at the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
"We are reporting the results of missile intercepts. There were some today. Unfortunately, not as many as we would have liked. We would like to shoot down more if we had more resources, namely missiles for the Patriot systems. As you can see, a ballistic missile was also shot down today. In fact, all cruise missiles were shot down. These include ‘Kalibr’ missiles, as well as ‘Banderole’ missiles and a large number of drones. The interception rate remains high, despite the fact that the enemy has changed its tactics today and is deploying a large number of jet-powered UAVs," said Ihnat.
He noted that many ballistic missiles fail to hit their targets.
"Today, in addition to conventional Iskander-M ballistic missiles, the enemy is using Korean KN-23s and Zircons, which follow a ballistic trajectory and hit their targets with greater accuracy, as well as S-400s. The enemy is deploying a considerable number of S-400s, and a large number of missiles are failing to reach their targets. Therefore, in fact, information regarding the number of missiles launched will continue to be released in stages," explained Ihnat.
What led up to this?
Russia deployed more than 2,800 jet-powered drones in August, whilst in July their number increased fivefold compared with June.
