Kherson risks being left without heat in winter: RMA reports critical condition of generating facilities
Due to critical damage to generating equipment and continuous shelling that is hampering repairs, Kherson risks entering the winter period without centralized heating.
Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA) Oleksandr Tolokonnikov said this during a television broadcast, Censor.NET reports, citing RBC-Ukraine.
Shelling of the city and region
"Over the past week, the number of drones has decreased by approximately 30%. I do not know what this is connected with. Perhaps it is due to delays in logistical supplies. Perhaps it is due to a rotation of certain units that are specifically involved in attacking local residents with these drones," he said.
Tolokonnikov added that approximately 500 FPV drones currently strike the Kherson region every day, although their number reached 1,000 just one or two weeks ago.
Preparations for the heating season
"The point is that we can and must prepare, but when it gets hit every day, it sets us back. The heating system itself is ready. However, the generating facilities are unfortunately now in critical condition following attacks by Russian drones," the deputy head of the Regional Military Administration stressed.
According to him, if enemy attacks on electricity, energy and heat-generating infrastructure were to stop now, it would be possible to expect restoration and launch within a month.
"Of course, we are now constantly saying that this winter may be without heating because the Russians also shelled us last winter. However, through the heroic efforts of heating-sector workers, we still managed to provide people with heat, even though there were days when the combined heat and power plant was struck by 100 shells," Tolokonnikov said.
He noted that the question was how the enemy would act this year.

- It was previously reported that the Kherson authorities urged residents to leave the city following a Russian attack on the Kherson combined heat and power plant, which sustained very serious damage.
