Aftermath of Defence Forces attack on Kuibyshev refinery in Russia’s Samara region. SATELLITE PHOTOS
Following a drone strike on the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region on the night of 22 September, the first satellite images of the facility were published on social media.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Russian Service of Radio Liberty.
Aftermath of the attack
The satellite images were taken on the morning of 22 September. They show several fire hotspots near fuel tanks in the eastern part of the refinery.
More about the refinery
- The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed overnight attacks on two Russian oil refineries: the Kuibyshev refinery and the Bashneft-UNPZ refinery in Ufa. The facility produces petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and more than 30 other types of petroleum products.
- The Kuibyshev refinery has the capacity to process approximately 7 million tonnes of oil annually. Strikes on such facilities affect the operation of Russia’s oil refining industry and fuel supplies.
- The Kuibyshev refinery is owned by the Russian company Rosneft. The facility has repeatedly been attacked by Ukrainian drones since the beginning of the full-scale war.
