Ukraine prepares new contracts for air defence systems and missiles, infrastructure protection is challenge – Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the main challenge now was protecting infrastructure from ballistic missile threats and called on partners to provide Ukraine with more ballistic missile defence assets.
He said this in his evening address, Censor.NET reports.
Additional protective measures
The president said he had spoken with Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi about additional protective measures. The defence minister, the infrastructure minister and the Armed Forces of Ukraine also delivered reports today.
"We are increasing the level of protection every day. This includes both turrets and special teams tasked with shooting down Shaheds. We expect manufacturers to move quickly with interceptors. The tasks have been set, and funding is available," Zelenskyy said.
New air defence contracts
- Ukraine is also preparing new contracts for air defence systems and missiles for them. According to Zelenskyy, details cannot be made public yet, but there could be positive developments.
"We need more ballistic missile defences specifically to protect infrastructure. This is the main challenge now. Leaders see what is happening and that Russia clearly has no intention of moving from escalation to negotiations," the president stressed.
Negotiations and Russia’s position
Zelenskyy expects the United States to be able to organise a trilateral meeting in October. The Ukrainian team is ready for negotiations. According to the president, Russia is currently focused on strikes against Ukraine and destabilising activities in Europe.
