Ukraine and Germany have signed 15 agreements worth €8.5 billion, - Zelenskyy. VIDEO

Following Friedrich Merz’s visit, the President of Ukraine stated that Ukraine and Germany had signed 15 agreements totalling 8.5 billion euros.

He announced this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

"Important agreements between Ukraine and Germany that will strengthen both countries and our industries. Fifteen agreements, totalling 8.5 billion euros.

Areas of counter-drone measures – interceptors and small missiles, radars, UGVs, artillery; we will work as hard as possible on air defence and on increasing the production in Germany of missiles for the Patriot and FREYJA systems. Support for the energy sector," the post reads.

According to Zelenskyy, during the war Germany is helping Ukraine, whilst Ukraine is placing defence and other orders that will provide work for companies in Germany.

"This will be a significant contribution. Thank you, Friedrich, for your visit. Thank you to Germany for its support," he added.

What led up to this?

  • As a reminder, on 4 October, Friedrich Merz, Economy Minister Katherina Reiche and 10 executives from companies in the defence and energy sectors arrived in Kyiv.
  • The meetings focused on support for Ukraine. In particular, Germany has allocated a comprehensive aid package for Ukraine worth over 1.3 billion euros. Furthermore, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and Germany are preparing an agreement on drones.
