Ukraine plans to cut over 4,000 vacant government posts

The government plans to cut more than 4,000 vacant posts in central executive authorities as part of the first phase of streamlining, and to reduce the number of deputy ministers by approximately 20%.

Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced this, Censor.NET reports.

"As part of efforts to streamline the state administration and improve its efficiency, more than 4,000 vacant posts in central executive authorities are slated for reduction in the first phase," the statement reads.

According to the prime minister, a functional review of the state administration will be conducted. In particular, it will examine the functions of government bodies and whether they reflect current realities and the state's priorities.

"The number of deputy ministers will be linked to the scope of their duties and reduced by approximately 20%, while the number of deputy heads of other CEAs (central executive authorities — Ed.) will be reduced by nearly 18%.

"A separate area of work is improving the training system, which should be tied to the duties of each specific position. We will launch information and internship programs for young people. There is a separate program for veterans," Koretskyi added.

The prime minister announced that the Council on Public Administration had resumed its work, with government officials, lawmakers and experts taking part.

"A detailed plan was presented at the meeting, and those responsible for each area were designated.

"The aim of all these changes is a professional state administration capable of carrying out assigned tasks quickly and effectively," Koretskyi concluded.
