More jet-powered Shaheds are being shot down not just thanks to turrets; entire air defense system is at work, - Ihnat

Automated turrets shoot down only a portion of the jet-powered "Shaheds", while the main results come from the coordinated efforts of various air defense systems.
This was reported by Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, during a telethon, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
According to him, more "Shahed" drones are being shot down, but not because of automated turrets.
"That's not the reason. It was announced that the turrets are operational. The hit rate is fairly low because this needs to be scaled up. A turret provides point defense, typically positioned on the approaches to the facility being defended."
"A turret is one of the components of a comprehensive air defense system; it is mounted with a machine gun that can operate at a range of literally one kilometer under normal weather conditions, provided that the target comes within a comfortable range for the turret itself," Ignat explained.
He also confirmed that turrets are being installed not only in Kyiv but also in other cities.
"A turret is a component that complements a comprehensive air defense system. Turrets accounted for a certain percentage of the shots down—up to 10%, roughly speaking. Interceptor drones account for another 20%, aircraft for 30–40%, and electronic warfare systems are also in operation. The entire comprehensive air defense system is effective," Ihnat added.
What led up to this?
- Earlier, President Zelenskyy stated that more than 12 turrets had been installed in Kyiv to counter Russian jet-powered drones.
