Russia uses AI to plan strikes on cities - Air Force

Russia uses AI for strike planning and target recognition

Russia is already using artificial intelligence to plan attacks and recognize targets.

Deputy Commander of the Air Force Yurii Cherevashenko said this during a meeting of the temporary investigative commission, Censor.NET reports.

What is known?

"It is difficult to assess the exact scale (of AI use - Ed.), but we see elements of AI in their operations. In particular, in strike planning. There were attacks on Odesa that lasted a long time, coming in waves with very short pauses. In my opinion, this would have been extremely difficult without AI," he said.

Cherevashenko is convinced that the Russians are already using AI at least to plan attack routes.

The occupiers are also using AI for target recognition.

The deputy commander explained how this can be countered.

"The same way. We are also implementing artificial intelligence. For example, in automated turrets," he added.

What happened earlier?

  • The Air Force previously reported that the share of jet-powered "Shaheds" used by Russia could rise to 80%.
