EU ambassadors have approved largest package of sanctions against Russia

Ambassadors from EU member states agreed to add 743 individuals and 826 companies linked to the Russian military-industrial complex to the sanctions list.
Radio Liberty reports on this, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
It is noted that this is the EU's longest sanctions list.
These are personal sanctions imposed under the regime established in response to actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.
The initial draft called for the inclusion of 744 individuals and 827 legal entities. In the version approved on October 7, the list was reduced by one individual and one legal entity.
The companies mentioned are included in the list of enterprises in the Russian military-industrial complex compiled by the Russian government and, on that basis, are eligible to receive government subsidies.
"Individuals were added to the sanctions list as the heads of these companies, who, according to the EU's assessment, are thereby supporting the Russian military-industrial complex."
Among the enterprises whose executives were involved in the project are companies in the military shipbuilding and submarine sectors, the rocket and space industry, aviation instrument and engine manufacturing, artillery production, the military automotive industry, radio electronics, navigation and semiconductor systems, as well as the chemical industry and organizations involved in ammunition production," the publication notes.
A separate, large group consists of companies associated with the Russian submarine fleet. The project included Mykhailo Budnichenko, head of Sevmash; Igor Vilnit, CEO of the Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Technology; Vladimir Dorofeev, head of Malakhit; as well as the heads of the Admiralty Shipyards, the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, and a number of other major enterprises in the Russian defense-industrial complex.
Also listed are executives from the United Rocket and Space Corporation, the Russian Corporation for Rocket and Space Instrumentation and Information Systems, the Kazan Engine-Building Production Association, the Motovilikha Plants, KamAZ subsidiaries, and a number of radio-electronic and chemical enterprises.
"The Chosen Ones"
EU ambassadors also agreed on sanctions against 77 individuals who were "elected" to the Russian State Duma from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
The EU plans to extend sanctions against 31 individuals and 6 organizations for the proliferation and use of chemical weapons.
What will the sanctions entail?
Once the formal procedure in the Council of the EU is completed and the relevant acts are published in the Official Journal of the European Union, the restrictions will include the freezing of assets in the EU and a ban on providing funds or economic resources to sanctioned individuals and companies.
Individuals are also prohibited from entering the European Union or transiting through its territory.
