Earlier, a group of Kazakhstani citizens released a video appeal calling for their return home. The young men had travelled to Russia to find work, but were deceived and sent to fight in the war against Ukraine.

They are believed to be in the north of the occupied Luhansk region.

The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is "continuing to work on appeals from Kazakh citizens who are in the combat zone".

"As regards the citizens who recorded video appeals on social media, the necessary measures are already being taken. Negotiations are underway regarding their return to their homeland.

Appeals continue to come in via the hotline. Information regarding each of them is being verified. Once the verification is complete, the compiled list will be sent to the Russian side," the ministry noted.
