Ukraine ready for 5 ceasefire options, but Russia’s agreement is needed – Foreign Ministry

Ukraine is ready for a trilateral meeting with the United States and Russia at the level of leaders and is awaiting Moscow’s position. Meanwhile, Kyiv supports five possible ceasefire formats.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said this during a briefing, according to Censor.NET.
Trilateral meeting
"Ukraine is ready to participate in such a format. As before, we are convinced that a meeting at the level of leaders could deliver the most significant breakthroughs towards achieving peace," he explained.
According to him, Ukraine is ready for a meeting in a trilateral format: Ukraine–Russia–United States.
"There are no obstacles on Ukraine’s side. We are currently awaiting Russia’s position," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson added.
Tykhyi said he would like such a meeting to take place in October.
Ceasefire
There are currently five ceasefire arrangements that Ukraine is ready to accept, the Foreign Ministry stressed.
One is a general ceasefire: the full and unconditional ceasefire that Ukraine agreed to during the talks in Jeddah.
Two other options concern the Black Sea, with Türkiye and Egypt working on them. The proposals are being developed in consultation with Ukraine. According to Tykhyi, they are realistic and mutually beneficial.
The fourth area involves India’s work on solutions concerning food security in the Black Sea and an end to strikes on energy infrastructure.
The fifth is an energy ceasefire involving the United States, which was discussed during the latest contacts between Zelenskyy and Trump.
However, Russia’s agreement is currently needed, he concluded.
Background
- As a reminder, on 8 September, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. They discussed Ukraine and the results of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s visit to Moscow and Kyiv.
- On 10 September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the Russian State Duma election period, "there will be no truly substantive negotiations" with Russia on ending the war in Ukraine.
- He hopes for the first results of the talks by the end of September and added that US representatives aim to achieve "firm steps" in negotiations on ending the war before winter.
