Russians attacked number of regions in Ukraine: there are fatalities and injuries; children are among dead. PHOTOS

Over the past 24 hours and during the night of 8 October, Russian troops attacked settlements in the Donetsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The shelling has resulted in deaths and injuries, and has damaged residential buildings, vehicles, businesses and civilian infrastructure.

Donetsk region: four dead and six injured

In the Donetsk region over the past 24 hours, the police recorded 1,729 Russian attacks along the front line and in residential areas. Eleven settlements came under fire, and 20 civilian facilities were damaged, including six residential buildings, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, and the regional police.

In Zelene, part of the Kryvyi Rih community in Pokrovsk District, two people were killed as a result of an attack by an FPV drone.

Strikes on the Donetsk region on 7 October

In Sloviansk, one person was killed and three others were injured. Russian strikes damaged high-rise buildings, an administrative building, a shop, a car service centre, a petrol station, a car and a bus.

In Vesela Hora, in the Novodonetsk community, one person was killed and a private house was damaged.

One person was reported injured each in Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Zoloti Prudy. Three cars were also damaged in Kramatorsk.

In addition, residential buildings were damaged in Petrivka Persha and Novostepanivka, administrative buildings in Oleksandrivka and Stepanivka, as well as seven houses in Serhiivka.

During the night, Sloviansk also came under two attacks – at 00:05 and 04:15. An apartment block was damaged and a shopping pavilion was destroyed. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

Sumy region: two 14-year-old boys killed

In the Krolevets community in the Sumy region, two 14-year-old boys were killed when an explosive device detonated, the regional police reported. They added that they are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.

In the Sumy community, a 46-year-old woman and two men aged 69 and 49 were injured when a Russian UAV struck. Two women who were injured on 6 October as a result of a drone strike on a high-rise building also sought medical attention.

In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 62-year-old man was injured as a result of a drone attack.

Private homes, cars, energy infrastructure and civilian facilities were also damaged.

Chernihiv region: 22 people killed in Pryluky

In Pryluky, 22 people were killed as a result of a Russian strike, including five children. Four children died at the scene, whilst another child died in hospital. More than 50 people were injured, according to Viacheslav Chaus, head of the regional military administration.

Earlier that day, Russian forces also struck Chernihiv. Preliminary reports suggest the enemy used ‘Banderol’ rocket-powered UAVs. The attack caused a fire in a three-storey building; the blaze has since been extinguished.

The Russians attacked Pushkari in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district on several occasions. A village cultural centre and a residential building were damaged there.

Explosions were heard in Semenivka during the night. Russian forces attacked the town with "Gerbera" UAVs, damaging a shop and several outbuildings. The fires were extinguished.

Kharkiv region: four people injured

Over the past 24 hours, Kharkiv and 11 settlements in the region came under Russian attack, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

In Kharkiv, a 67-year-old woman was injured, whilst a 30-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction. In Derhachi, a 62-year-old man was injured, and in the village of Dobrenka in the Natalynska community, a 70-year-old woman was injured.

Medical staff also treated a 62-year-old woman who was injured on 3 October as a result of an explosion caused by an unknown device in Kupiansk.

Russian forces deployed four missiles, four KAB bombs, five FPV drones and 29 UAVs – the type of which is yet to be determined – across the region.

In Kharkiv, a block of flats was damaged. In other parts of the region, damage was reported to private homes, cars, garages, outbuildings and storage buildings, power lines, railway infrastructure and other civilian facilities.

Southern regions: casualties and damage reported

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces attacked the Nikopol and Synelnykivskyi districts nearly ten times using drones and artillery, according to the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha.

The communities of Nikopol, Marhanetsk, Tomakivka, Pokrovsk, Vasylkivka and Bohynivka were targeted. In the Synelnykivskyi district, a bus was damaged and a fire broke out.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces carried out 970 strikes on 58 settlements over the past 24 hours. Three people were injured as a result of attacks on the Zaporizhzhia district, according to Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Regional Defence Council.

The Russians carried out 21 air strikes, deployed 775 UAVs, fired on a settlement once with multiple launch rocket systems and carried out 173 artillery strikes.

In the Mykolaiv region, a 63-year-old woman was injured as a result of an attack by strike UAVs in the Pervomaiskyi district. She will receive outpatient treatment. Four private homes were damaged, according to the head of the regional military administration, Heorhii Reshetilov.

In the Mykolaiv district, FPV drones attacked the Halytsynivska and Kutsurubska communities. In Lyman, two cars and a retail outlet were damaged, whilst in Dmytrivka, a private house was damaged.

In the Kherson region, six people were injured as a result of Russian attacks. In Kherson, two people were injured when explosives were dropped from a UAV, whilst another woman sustained injuries in the evening, according to the regional police.

Consequences of the shelling of Ukraine on 7 October

Overnight, a 39-year-old man was injured in yet another explosion. He was hospitalised with shrapnel wounds to his thighs.

In addition, following the evening attack, the Russians struck a Patrol Police Department service vehicle with a drone. No police officers were injured, but the vehicle was damaged.
