They met on opposite sides of front line: Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier spotted fellow countryman amongst occupiers who had been taken prisoner with help of drone. VIDEO

In the Kharkiv region, soldiers from the 158th Separate Mechanised Brigade captured Russian soldiers using a drone fitted with a loudspeaker. Whilst speaking with the prisoners, it emerged that one of them had grown up in the same area of the Zaporizhzhia region as a Ukrainian soldier.

According to Censor.NET, footage of the operation and accounts from those involved were published by the BBC.

The video opens with footage from a Ukrainian drone monitoring the Russian soldiers. Using a loudspeaker mounted on the drone, the Ukrainian defenders called on the occupiers to surrender.

Later in the footage, the captured Russian soldiers appear. One of them, 18-year-old Volodymyr, explains that he did not want to do compulsory military service, so he signed up as a contract soldier.

"I didn’t want to do compulsory military service, so I signed up for a contract on a ship. Then I was transferred to the 810th Brigade, and I ended up in the war," said the prisoner of war.

What makes this story particularly noteworthy is that one of the Russian prisoners of war turned out to be a fellow villager of the Ukrainian defender. Both grew up in the Kamyansko-Dniprovskyi district of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, part of which is currently under Russian occupation.
