Zelenskyy met with Costa and von der Leyen: they discussed energy and air defence needs and coordinated efforts on European integration track. VIDEO
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.
Russian terror
The President emphasised that there are currently no signs from Russia that it is prepared to end the war. Its actions demonstrate the exact opposite and certainly do not bring peace any closer.
"Following overnight Russian strikes on the energy sector, there was a horrific Russian attack on Kharkiv this morning. As of now, two people are known to have been killed. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones. Seventeen people have been injured. There were also Russian strikes on a shopping centre in Rivne and energy facilities in four regions," Zelenskyy said.
What was discussed
According to the President, European leadership is needed to ensure adequate protection of lives from Russian terror. Ukraine appreciates that all the decisions we agree on are implemented promptly.
"Today we discussed further assistance, primarily our needs in the energy sector and air defence. We also discussed support for our financial stability, particularly for next year," Zelenskyy noted.
The parties also coordinated their work on the European integration track.
"It is important that new negotiation clusters were opened this week. We are working to open the remaining two by the end of this year," the President added.
