Hungary has announced that it will stop using Russian gas starting in fall of 2027

Hungary must completely phase out Russian natural gas by the fall of 2027, as the European Union has set this specific deadline.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Anita Orbán made this statement in an interview with the Hungarian publication Telex, according to Censor.NET.

"The EU has set a clear deadline for the phased phase-out of Russian natural gas imports—fall 2027," the minister said.
In addition, Hungary is seeking other sources of oil. According to Orbán, the Hungarian energy company MOL is preparing its refineries to process non-Russian oil, which will be supplied from the south via the Croatian JANAF oil pipeline.
The country is taking advantage of an exemption from U.S. sanctions, which allows it to purchase Russian oil until November 21, in order to transition to new technologies and begin purchasing oil from other suppliers.
At the same time, Orbán described Hungary as a potential major transit and distribution hub for gas and oil, citing its significant energy storage capacity, connections to neighboring countries, and MOL’s influence in the region.
