Rada allows POWs to retain salaries in full
The Ukrainian parliament has passed a bill allowing captive servicemen to retain their wages.
The bill was supported by 237 MPs, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.Military who have been captured or held hostage, as well as those interned in neutral countries or missing in action, retain their remuneration in the amount of salary received in the last place of service, military rank bonus, seniority bonus, other additional monthly extras paid on permanent basis, other types of bonuses contingent on the duration of service and salary standards.
Remuneration is paid out to the families of respective soldiers on a monthly basis and in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The law does not apply to the military who voluntarily surrendered, abandoned their army units (place of service) or deserted the Armed Forces, other legitimate military formations or law enforcement agencies.
