The Security Service exposed another organiser of the illegal referendum of the Russian Federation, which took place during the occupation of the right-bank Kherson region.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"During the fake plebiscite, the woman was a member of the Russian 'election committee' in the then-occupied village of Vesele, Kakhovka district.
Accompanied by armed invaders, she visited private households and called on local residents to 'vote for the region's accession' to Russia.
After the community was liberated, the collaborator went to Kryvyi Rih under the guise of an IDP, where she tried to hide from justice," the statement said.
As noted, while in the city, the woman filed documents for social payments and housing.
As a result of stabilisation measures, SSU officers exposed the offender, established her whereabouts and detained her.
According to the investigation, the traitor was a resident of the Novokakhovka community. At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the woman supported the Russian invaders and offered them her assistance in the war against Ukraine.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The woman is currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
