The management of a Ukrainian holding company and their accomplices who helped Russia circumvent sanctions on energy exports were exposed.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, during 2023-2024, the defendants participated in the construction of a portside liquefied gas plant in the Rostov region of Russia. The products manufactured at this enterprise were loaded onto tankers of the Russian shadow fleet and covertly sold in different parts of the world.
Moscow reportedly used most of the profits from the shadow trade to finance the war in Ukraine.
As a result of complex measures in Kyiv region, the SSU detained an equipment developer and a design engineer of a Ukrainian holding company involved in the construction of a Russian plant. The SSU documented how both suspects developed all the project documentation for the production facility and its technological capacities. The officials transferred the finished designs to Russian customers through a co-owner of a Ukrainian holding company located in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. He owns 5 companies in the city of Shakhty, Rostov region of the Russian Federation, which supply equipment to petrol stations of the sanctioned "Gazprom" and "Lukoil" corporations.
The SSU also reported that his accomplice was detained in Poltava region, who has his own network of petrol stations in the temporarily occupied part of the territory in eastern Ukraine and refuels the occupiers' military equipment.
The three detainees were served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding the aggressor state). The criminals are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Also, the crimes of a co-owner of a Ukrainian holding company and a director of a petrol station chain located outside the territory controlled by Ukraine were charged in absentia under this article.
It is noted that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
