The SBI, in cooperation with the National Police and the SSU, detained the acting head of the Khmelnytskyi District Administration, who organised a scheme whereby persons liable for military service could obtain the status of limited fitness for money.

The investigation established that the official was a member of the commission that considered the issue of deferment of conscription in the Khmelnytskyi Regional TCR and SS.

As noted, at the end of 2024, he was approached by a local entrepreneur who wanted to know about the procedure for exempting his employees from mobilization. The official said that the exempting had been temporarily suspended, but offered an alternative - obtaining a limited-use status for USD 1,500 per person.

The official demanded to see medical documents, which he passed on to the head of the military medical commission. The official suggested that the diagnosis should be "finished" and that a doctor should be found to prepare the necessary certificates.

On 18 February, SBI officers reportedly detained the official while he was receiving USD 1.6 thousand for "registration" of the status.

The issue of a preventive measure and his removal from office is currently being decided. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are identifying other people involved in the corruption scheme.
