Up to three months of training: Ministry of Defence on training under Contract 18-24 programme. INFOGRAPHICS
As part of the pilot project "Contract 18-24", citizens recruited for military service are trained in a three-level programme lasting up to 3 months.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
In accordance with the established standards, the training of military personnel is carried out according to a clear procedure and includes
Three consecutive levels:
- Basic Combined Arms Training (BCAT);
- professional training in a specific military speciality (MS);
- Adaptation course.
The BCAT is compulsory for persons with no previous military experience and is aimed at acquiring the primary knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform military service duties. The training lasts for 1.5 months, according to a programme approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The training is carried out in military units with adequate material and technical facilities or, if the necessary conditions are not available, in training centers. Servicemen are trained in platoons of 25-30 people under the guidance of experienced instructors, officers, and sergeants of combat units.
Professional training prepares servicemen to perform specific tasks in accordance with their chosen military speciality.
Programmes are developed by the military command and control body and are adapted to the weapons used in a particular unit. The training is conducted in military units with appropriate equipment or in a training centre, with the involvement of qualified instructors and combat officers.
The adaptation course is aimed at improving the skills of coordinated actions in small tactical groups under the intense psychological stress of combat operations. The training program was developed based on the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war and approved by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The course lasts 14 days and is conducted directly at the military unit after the professional training. The training is conducted under the guidance of instructors, officers, and NCOs with combat experience.
The operational command provides daily monitoring of the training process. Additional monitoring may be carried out by military command and control bodies and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by decision of the leadership.
"Thus, the full training cycle for servicemen lasts up to 3 months. Critically important: participation of servicemen in combat operations without undergoing certain types of training is strictly prohibited!" the ministry said.
As a reminder, on 11 February, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine officially launched the Contract 18-24 voluntary service format for Ukrainians who are ready to join the Defence Forces for one year.
