On the night of 11 November, drones attacked an oil refinery in Saratov, causing a large-scale fire.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the governor of the region, Roman Busargin, and Russian Telegram channels.
The head of the region confirmed the drone attack and reported damage to civilian infrastructure.
What is known about the enterprise?
The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of the oldest in Russia and is part of "Rosneft". The plant processes about 4.8 million tonnes of oil per year and supplies fuel to the Volga region.
Technological capabilities
-
It has several main oil processing facilities:
-
Atmospheric-vacuum distillation unit (AVT-6) — for primary processing of crude oil.
-
Pentane-hexane fraction isomerisation unit — for improving fuel quality.
-
Other units for the production of petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil and other petroleum products.
-
It is one of the key energy facilities, so strikes against it could have economic and logistical consequences for Russia.
Ukraine's strikes on the Saratov refinery
A series of strikes on the Saratov refinery demonstrates the systematic use by Ukraine of unmanned aerial vehicles against energy facilities deep inside Russian territory. The attacks on the Saratov oil refinery are an important part of this strategy. Although the exact extent of the damage has not been fully disclosed, the very fact of repeated attacks on the same large facility speaks to the importance of this plant as a target.
On the night of 16 September, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a strike on the Saratov oil refinery. A series of explosions was recorded, and a fire was reported on the refinery's territory.
On 20 September, drones attacked the facility again. The attack also damaged a residential building and injured one person.
On the night of 16 October 2025, the Ukrainian Defence Forces successfully attacked the Saratov oil refinery in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation, which supplies the enemy's armed forces. This strike, like all previous ones, is intended to weaken Russia's ability to wage aggressive war.
On the night of 3 November 2025, units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces again struck the Saratov oil refinery. Hits on the facility and a fire in the area of the ELOU AVT-6 oil refinery complex were recorded.
