What does the defence say?

The lawyer stated that the suspect's position could "expose the actions of certain individuals," so the hearing should be held in closed session.

The defence also submitted objections containing witness statements collected in Austria.

"These indicate that Danyl Kuzmin's activities were motivated by certain circumstances relating to threats to his life from various individuals," the lawyer said.

Circumstances of the crime

The prosecution, represented by prosecutor Dmytro Tkachuk, stated that the suspect decided to murder Kuzmin for financial gain.

"On 25 November 2025, Rynzhuk (another suspect), who was acquainted with Kuzmin, arranged a meeting at a hotel in Austria under a false pretext. Rynzhuk, having met with Kuzmin, went down to the hotel car park, where Ahoiev was already waiting for them, according to a pre-arranged plan," he said.

Rynzhuk and Ahoiev, according to the prosecutor, blocked the door on the staircase and began striking Kuzmin with a blunt object until he was unable to resist.

Later, they moved him to the back seat of Kuzmin's car, Ahoiev got behind the wheel, and they all left the hotel grounds.

Rynzhuk and Ahoiev then forced him to transfer €50,000 from his crypto wallet to their account.

After that, the suspects took Kuzmin under a bridge and set the car on fire.

The prosecutor is requesting that the suspect be remanded in custody as the crime is serious. The suspect Ahoiev faces between 10 and 15 years in prison.
