This was reported by the Kyiv region police, according to Censor.NET.

The day before, on 18 December, the police received a report about a large number of dead animals in the village of Kremenyshche. Kyiv animal rights activists, including Snizhana Buhryk and representatives of the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group (KARG), also arrived at the scene.

According to volunteers, a local resident had been taking animals in for boarding for years, presenting her home as a mini-shelter. She took in evacuated, abandoned, injured and sick animals from various organisations, including KARG.

"She tortured hundreds of animals. We were able to remove 51 corpses. The animals died of disease and starvation, ate those who had died, tried to escape, scratched the walls, ate chalk, and died without water. It's horrible. It's painful. Six rooms of hell," said Snizhana Buhryk.

Volunteers managed to rescue 40 cats and one dog at the scene. The surviving animals were taken to veterinary clinics, and the bodies of the dead are to be sent for examination.

The police are investigating all the circumstances of the incident. Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - cruel treatment of two or more animals.
