In the city of Bakhmach in the Chernihiv region, law enforcement officers have detained a soldier who opened fire with an automatic rifle from the window of a house.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Police. The incident took place on the evening of 8 June. According to the investigation, a 49-year-old local resident, who is a soldier and holds the status of AWOL, was involved in the shooting.

The police note that the man was under the influence of alcohol.
Following reports of the shooting, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, identified the shooter and detained him.
An assault rifle with a silencer was seized
During a search of the man’s home, law enforcement officers found an AK-74 assault rifle with a silencer, two magazines and 17 rounds of 5.45 mm ammunition.
All the seized weapons and ammunition were sent for forensic examination.
"In the suspect’s home, law enforcement officers discovered and seized an AK-74 assault rifle with a silencer, two magazines for it and 17 rounds of 5.45 mm ammunition," the police reported.
Faces up to seven years in prison
Investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition) and Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism involving the use of firearms).
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
If found guilty, the man faces up to seven years’ imprisonment.
