The State Emergency Service has completed repair and restoration work to preserve the damaged roof of the Cathedral of the Dormition within the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

According toCensor.NET, this was reported by the SES press office.

"Today, 23 June, the repair and restoration work to preserve the damaged roof has been completed. The work has been carried out to 100 per cent of the planned scope. Heat guns continue to operate at the site to dry out the building structures and interior spaces," said Andriy Danik, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

During the course of the work on the Lavra’s grounds, over 100 rescue workers from various units and more than 25 pieces of State Emergency Service equipment were deployed. These have been days of intense labour, responsibility and the struggle to preserve Ukraine’s priceless cultural and spiritual heritage.

Behind the dry figures are people. Those who do not seek glory, but who every day protect what is most precious – life, cultural heritage and the future of Ukraine.

"I thank every rescuer who took part in this work. For their professionalism. For their dedication to the cause. For preserving this sacred site. Because even after the darkest night, we will be able to stand firm and restore what the enemy is trying to destroy," said Danik.
