The famous Ukrainian writer, publisher, publicist, and public figure Dmytro Kapranov was buried in St Michael’s Cathedral.
According to a Censor.NET correspondent, many people came to pay a last tribute to to the writer.
In particular, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, actor and military officer Akhtem Seitablaev, singer Oleh Skrypka and others.
After the funeral service at St Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, Dmytro Kapranov's body was taken to the Baikove Cemetery crematorium.
The death of the publicist became known on 16 April from the Facebook page run by Dmytro Kapranov together with his twin brother Vitalii. The writer passed away at the age of 56. According to doctors, his death was caused by heart disease.
The twin brothers Dmytro and Vitalii Kapranov are well-known Ukrainian writers, publishers, publicists, public figures, and bloggers. In particular, since 2019, they have been running their own YouTube channel "named after Taras Shevchenko", where they talk about the history of Ukraine.
Back in the early 1990s, the Kapranov brothers published the Ukrainian newspaper Tindy Rindy and the Ukrainian fiction magazine Braty. At the same time, they began writing their first book, Kobzar 2000 (which they completed 10 years later).
In the late 1990s, the Kapranovs decided to become publishers, launching their first book project, the Knyhonosha book catalogue. Since then, they have also headed the Zelenyi Pes publishing house, published a literary newspaper, organised the first Ukrainian competition for short fiction, the Zolotyi Babai, and a Taras Shevchenko lookalike contest, among other things.
Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kapranov brothers have joined the army, including the Azov regiment, defending the Kyiv region. Later, they returned to civilian life and actively developed their history channel.
