President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Ukrainian boxer, WBA, WBC, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, who will hold a "historic" rematch with British boxer Tyson Fury on December 21.
Zelenskyy posted a video of his conversation with Usyk on his Telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.
"One hundred per cent, all Ukrainians are on your side. Of course, the UK is helping Ukraine in its fight against Russia.Of course, we respect our partners. So, when you’re beating Fury, don’t hit too hard, because remember, we don’t want them banning our Storm Shadow missiles," – said the head of state.
To which Usyk replied that "it's just sport".
Zelenskyy wished Usyk success and stressed that every victory energises Ukrainians.
The rematch between the boxers will take place on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In May this year, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision.
For the first time, artificial intelligence will monitor a boxing match.
On 19 May, Oleksandr Usyk won the title of absolute world heavyweight champion in a fight with boxer Tyson Fury, collecting all four championship belts.
